Çay District, Turkey Launches Sustainable Sheep Project, Allocates Livestock to Farmers

The Afyonkarahisar Provincial Special Administration held a lottery draw in Çay district to distribute small‑ruminants under the Sustainable Sheep Project. Twenty‑four sheep and one goat were allocated, selecting 11 primary and 20 backup farmers. The ceremony was attended by Kaymakam Hasan Hüsnü Türker, District Special Administration Director Yakup Güçlü, District Agriculture and Forestry Director İbrahim Kök, members of the Provincial General Assembly and numerous local residents.

Officials explained that the project aims to promote sustainable livestock production, diversify income sources for rural families, and support employment in the region. Beneficiaries will receive training and further assistance, with expectations that the initiative will boost the district’s animal husbandry capacity and improve farmers’ earnings.
