Ay Yapım launches first major AI-generated series on Prime Video

The Turkish production company Ay Yapım has released ‘Castle Walls’ on Prime Video, marking the first long-form fiction series produced with extensive use of artificial intelligence on a major streaming platform. Set around the fortress of Alamut in the year 1090, the series utilizes a hybrid production model.

While human creators remain central to the process—including scriptwriters Kerem Deren and Cisil Hazal Tenim, and voice actors who provide the character dialogue—AI tools were used for much of the visual production. The production workflow involved ChatGPT for creative ideas, Ay Yapım Storyboard for planning, and various tools including Midjourney, Runway, Google Nano Banana, Veo, Kling, and ComfyUI to generate visual content.

Ay Yapım has stated that the AI training and material usage are based on the company’s own archives to ensure they hold the necessary rights. Critics have noted that while the technology shows significant advancement in visual detail, the series still exhibits typical AI characteristics, such as high color saturation and a disconnect between characters and their backgrounds, alongside challenges in narrative cohesion.
