Ayacucho proposes new institutional complex to mitigate seismic risk
The Frente de Defensa del Pueblo de Ayacucho (Fredepa) has proposed the creation of a Great Institutional Complex of Ayacucho to mitigate seismic risks. The initiative aims to progressively relocate various entities from strategic areas in central Huamanga to modern, planned zones with better safety conditions.
Proposed locations for relocation include the Ayacucho prison, Huamanga barracks, Los Cabitos, Carmen Alto, and the city's airport. Other institutions under consideration for transfer include the Banco de la Nación, RENIEC, and several educational institutions.
Wilber Martínez of the COER Ayacucho Disaster Risk Management Office noted that risk simulations estimate a potential impact of 70% to 75% on the infrastructure of the Historic Center. This figure is intended for preparedness purposes rather than as a direct damage prediction.
