Ayacucho seeks to revitalize wine and brandy production

In Ayacucho, Peru, local producers are working to revitalize the production of wine and grape brandy following decades of decline in vineyard cultivation. The Association of Viticulturists and Distillers of Ayacucho (Asovide) is leading efforts to strengthen local production by coordinating between farmers, public institutions, universities, and businesses.

Historically, the province of Huamanga maintained approximately 80 hectares of vineyards in various valley sectors. While production has significantly diminished over the years, current efforts aim to expand the association and promote research through partnerships with the National University of San Cristóbal de Huamanga and the National Autonomous University of Huanta to support the development of the grape sector.
