Ayala and Okondo wind farm project proposed

A new wind farm project, named ‘Parque Eólico Pando’, has been proposed for the municipalities of Ayala and Okondo in Álava. The project, requested by Macrina Solar 33, plans to install six wind turbines with a total installed gross power of 30 MW.

Following its publication in the Official Gazette of the Basque Country (BOPV), a twenty-day period has opened for interested individuals or legal entities to submit information requests regarding the implementation and operation of the park.

The proposal arrives amid a complex landscape for renewable energy development in the region. While the Basque Government is pushing for green energy, there have been recent tensions and delays caused by differing criteria between the Executive, Provincial Councils, and affected Municipalities. For instance, the Bizkaia Provincial Council recently rejected the Larragorri wind farm due to concerns regarding local birdlife, despite receiving approval from the Basque Executive earlier in 2025.
