Ayatollah Ali Khamenei Funeral Draws Millions in Iran and Iraq

Massive funeral ceremonies were held for Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei across Iran and Iraq. Gatherings took place in Tehran, Qom, Najaf, Karbala and Mashhad, with reported attendance of up to 42 million people overall, including about 10 million in Najaf and Karbala and roughly 15 million at the final ceremony in Mashhad's Imam Reza shrine.

Iranian authorities also announced a commemorative ceremony for the late leader on 23 Tir (13 June) at the Imam Khomeini Mosque in Tehran, scheduled from 17:00 to 19:00. The event attracted thousands of mourners, families of the leader, high‑ranking officials and foreign delegations, featuring speeches, Quran recitations and national anthem performances. The funeral and the subsequent commemorations were presented as a display of national unity and resistance against perceived foreign adversaries.
