Ayazağa flooding causes major damage to Istanbul businesses

Heavy rainfall in Istanbul on October 14 caused significant flooding in the Ayazağa neighborhood of Sarıyer, impacting numerous homes, businesses, and vehicles.

Kenan Sümer, owner of a 19-year-old family clothing business, reported losses totaling approximately 7.5 million Turkish Liras. Security footage captured the rapid influx of water into the 600-square-meter store, where water levels reached 1.70 meters. The sudden surge forced the owner's son and daughter-in-law to scramble for safety as the shop was inundated with mud and water, destroying merchandise, equipment, and appliances.

Cleanup efforts involving Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and İSTAÇ teams have been underway to clear the debris from the affected area.
