Aydın Adnan Menderes University hosts lecture on terror-free Turkey

Aydın Adnan Menderes University (ADÜ) held its first lecture of the new academic year under the theme ‘A Terror-Free Turkey’. The event featured security expert and retired intelligence colonel Coşkun Başbuğ, alongside ADÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Bülent Kent.

During the lecture, Başbuğ highlighted the significant economic impact of counter-terrorism efforts in Turkey, stating that the country has spent 2.5 trillion dollars on the fight against terrorism. He described this expenditure as money ‘thrown into the streets’ for the struggle. He also noted that Operation Euphrates Shield served as a critical turning point in these efforts.

Rector Bülent Kent emphasized that the theme is more than just a lecture topic, asserting that cleansing the country of terrorism is essential for Turkey's future and its standing in the second century of the Republic.
