Aydın Adnan Menderes University launches 3D anatomy lab
Aydın Adnan Menderes University has launched DijiLab, a specialized research and development laboratory within its Veterinary Faculty, to integrate virtual reality (VR) and 3D modeling into veterinary education. Starting in the 2026-2027 academic year, the 100-square-meter facility provides students with access to interactive anatomical structures through VR workstations, tablets, and large interactive screens.
The laboratory utilizes digitalized anatomical data from horses, cattle, dogs, and cats, created via computed tomography and 3D surface scanning. Students can examine various systems—including skeletal, muscular, circulatory, and nervous—from multiple angles, separate layers, and perform cross-sectional evaluations. These digital tools are intended to complement traditional cadaver-based learning through a hybrid educational approach. Some anatomical structures are also being produced as physical training materials using 3D printers.
