Aydın and Manisa begin new dried fruit harvest season

The 2026-2027 agricultural harvest season has commenced in Turkey's key production regions of Aydın and Manisa, marked by symbolic first-sale ceremonies for dried figs and raisins.

In Aydın, the first dried figs were sold at a symbolic price of 850 TL per kilogram at the Aydın Commodity Exchange. Officials noted that the region produces 60% of Turkey's total fig output. Efforts are underway to maintain product quality and protect the brand's international value through strict inspections of storage facilities in Nazilli.

In Manisa, the season for seedless dried raisins opened with a symbolic auction where the first batch was purchased for 4,000 TL per kilogram by the Manisa Commodity Exchange. While the symbolic price is high, producers remain focused on the official prices to be announced by the Turkish Grain Board (TMO).

Agricultural stakeholders highlighted both opportunities and challenges. While weather conditions have favored high-quality production and higher yields, producers face rising costs for fuel, fertilizer, labor, and irrigation. In the fig sector, concerns were raised regarding competition from other nations and the need for better management of the first loading dates to support farmer income.
