Aydın fig industry workshop targets new branding and production roadmap

A workshop was held in Aydın to develop a strategic roadmap for the Aydın fig industry, which holds Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) status in the European Union. Organized under the “81 Provinces 81 Products Program” coordinated by the Ministry of Industry and Technology, the event focused on strengthening the fig's position in national and international markets.

Participants, including representatives from the South Aegean Development Agency (GEKA), agricultural officials, and industry stakeholders, discussed challenges within the production chain. The goal is to create an actionable plan that enhances the value chain, branding capacity, and market share of the product. Recent efforts by the Aydın Provincial Directorate of Agriculture include the distribution of thousands of fig seedlings and equipment to producers over the last two years.
