Aydın fig producers face price uncertainty and low market demand

YENİ Parti Aydın Deputy Evrim Karakoz has called on TARİŞ to immediately announce fig purchase prices to alleviate uncertainty among producers in the Aydın region. During a visit to fig orchards in the Erbeyli neighborhood of İncirliova, Karakoz noted that despite high quality and good yields this season, market activity remains extremely limited.

Karakoz reported that current purchase prices are approximately half of what they were last year, leaving farmers worried about whether their harvested products will be sold or left to rot. She criticized the lack of timely measures regarding sales and marketing strategies, noting that previous export difficulties have also impacted traders and exporters.

Furthermore, Karakoz criticized the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, stating that official visits to Aydın have failed to provide practical solutions to the ongoing struggles of producers in the fig and olive oil sectors.
