Turkey infrastructure projects: regional road, water, and transit developments
Various municipalities across Turkey are implementing significant infrastructure projects to improve transportation and water management. In Malatya, the Battalgazi district is undergoing road widening and paving on a 10-kilometer route connecting the Kapıkaya, Karatepe, and Şişman neighborhoods, increasing width from 4 to 9 meters.
In Trabzon, the metropolitan municipality is advancing a rail system project in the Uzunkum region, including tunnel construction and traffic management plans to minimize disruption. Additionally, TİSKİ is constructing an 8,000-meter drinking water line in the Maçka district to serve the Yaylabaşı neighborhood.
Water security remains a priority in other regions. In Batman, officials are discussing a project to supply drinking water from the Silvan Dam, which includes a 300,000 cubic meter daily capacity treatment plant. In Diyarbakır, discussions have emerged regarding the need for long-term sewage and rainwater infrastructure to prevent flooding during rainy seasons.
Other notable developments include the planned opening of the Ümraniye-Ataşehir-Göztepe metro line in Istanbul on December 19, 2026, and the inclusion of the Mersin M2 Tramway Line in the 2026 investment program.
