Aydın police investigate suspected murder after fatal apartment fire

Authorities in the Efeler district of Aydın are investigating a suspected murder following a fatal apartment fire on August 16. The fire, which broke out in an apartment in the İstiklal neighborhood, resulted in the death of Mazlum Çiçek.

During the emergency response, a woman identified as D. Ç. was rescued from the building with injuries and taken to the hospital. Investigators noted several suspicious details at the scene, including a bag containing money and jewelry left outside the apartment, and a kitchen door that had been locked from the inside during the fire. Witnesses also reported hearing a woman's scream shortly before the flames appeared.

Following the findings of the Aydın Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, a detention order has been issued for D. Ç., the wife of the deceased.
