Aydın preserves 700-year-old foundation tradition

The Aydın Regional Directorate of Foundations has upheld a 700-year-old charitable tradition by providing sweets to inmates at a local correctional facility. This act fulfills a specific condition set forth in the endowment deed of the Niksarlı Hacı Mehmed (Ahi Pehlivan) Foundation.

Established in 1323 in the Niksar district of Tokat, the foundation's original deed mandated that sweets be distributed to those held in prisons. The General Directorate of Foundations continues to implement such historical charitable requirements across various regions in Turkey to preserve the legacy of Seljuk and Ottoman foundation culture.
