Aydın Resident Rescues Injured Black Stork

In Çavdar Mahallesi, Aydın, resident Esma Bıçak found a young black stork (karaleylek) on the road near the Latmos (Beşparmak) Mountains with a wounded leg and damaged wing. She provided water and food, bandaged the leg, and reported the bird to local muhtar Turan Ak.

EKODOSD (Ekosistemi Koruma ve Doğa Sevenler Derneği) teams led by president Bahattin Sürücü arrived, took the bird into protective care, and transferred it to the Doğa Koruma ve Milli Parklar Aydın Şube Müdürlüğü. The stork will receive veterinary treatment at Adnan Menderes University Veterinary Faculty and, after recovery, be released back into its natural habitat in the Latmos Mountains.

Sürücü praised Bıçak’s prompt action, noting that black storks are indicators of healthy forest and wetland ecosystems and that citizen vigilance is vital for wildlife conservation.
