Aydın, Turkey seizes 55 million TL in fake food and counterfeit goods

Police in Aydın conducted a series of anti‑counterfeit operations during the first seven months of the year, confiscating roughly 55.7 million Turkish lira worth of falsified food products and imitation merchandise. The effort comprised 149 separate raids, including 34 targeted anti‑fraud actions and 115 operations aimed at protecting intellectual‑property rights.

Authorities seized 19,355 litres of unlabelled olive oil, 11,952 litres of adulterated vegetable oil, 3,580 kg of unlabelled pomegranate syrup, 2,609 kg of fake honey, 1,293 kg of unlabelled dried figs, 977 kg of unlabelled olives, 500 kg of unlabelled sausage, 525 kg of tampered tomato paste, 278 kg of unlabelled molasses, and 90 kg of brined grape leaves, amounting to 40,153 kg of counterfeit food and 30,470 tin cans ready for distribution. In the intellectual‑property raids, 4,445 counterfeit clothing items, 188 automotive spare parts and seven jewellery pieces were recovered.

The operations targeted 13 businesses and 34 individuals, imposing total administrative fines of about 6.75 million TL, while judicial proceedings were initiated against 119 people.
