Aydıncık hosts 3rd International Science and Culture Events

The 3rd International Aydıncık Science and Culture Events commenced in the Aydıncık district of Mersin, Turkey, featuring a symbolic Yörük migration walk. Organized under the theme ‘Aydıncık and Mediterranean Cultures,’ the event aims to highlight the region's historical, cultural, and social heritage by bridging academic research with local traditions.

At the Lütfi Elvan Cultural Center, academics from various provinces participated in a symposium discussing the region's historical and social structures. Professor Ahmet Taşağıl delivered the opening lecture, focusing on the position of Turks within Mediterranean cultures and the area's historical background. The program is coordinated by Kocaeli University.

In addition to academic sessions, the event includes an international workshop exhibition of paintings and various workshops for children, such as sculpture and ceramics. Local artisans and women's cooperatives are showcasing handmade products, including traditional juniper spoons, as well as regional agricultural goods like figs, almonds, and the local delicacy batırık.
