Antalya Konyaaltı Apartment Fire Traps Family and Injures Residents

A fire broke out at about 18:00 on a Saturday in the B block, 6th floor of the Antalya Evleri residential complex in Konyaaltı, Antalya. An explosion in the external air‑conditioning unit caused flames to spread rapidly to the 7th‑floor apartment, igniting the building’s façade. The blaze produced dense smoke that trapped a family – Ayşe M. and her children Hira M., Hamza M., Hasan B., and Serhat B. – on the upper floors. After roughly one hour of work, fire crews rescued the occupants using a ladder truck and interior access, while several other residents, including three children, suffered smoke inhalation and were given oxygen treatment. Relatives on the ground experienced panic; one neighbor, Musa Can Istıl, said, “We saw the smoke, called the fire brigade, helped pull three people down, then two more, and finally the children on the 7th floor.” Two apartments on the 6th and 7th floors were left unusable, and investigators have opened a probe into the fire’s cause.
