Ayhan Barut raises concerns over rising international travel costs

Ayhan Barut, a Member of Parliament for the YENİ Party from Adana, has submitted a parliamentary inquiry to Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek regarding the rising costs of traveling abroad.

Barut highlighted that citizens traveling for education, work, health, or tourism are facing significant economic burdens. He cited the combination of exchange rate fluctuations, high inflation, and increased costs for visas, passports, transportation, and accommodation as primary drivers. Additionally, he noted that the exit fee for traveling abroad creates an extra financial strain, particularly for students, low-income citizens, and those with family members living overseas.

The inquiry requests data on the total revenue generated from exit fees over the last decade and asks how these public funds are allocated within the budget.
