Ayia Napa opens underwater sculpture museum in Cyprus
The Museum of Underwater Sculpture Ayia Napa (MUSAN) has been established in Cyprus, offering a unique exhibition located on the seabed near Pernera beach. Designed by British artist and ecologist Jason deCaires Taylor, the museum features 93 works of art situated at depths of 8 to 10 meters.
The installation is designed to merge art with nature, resembling an underwater forest filled with human figures, children, and monumental sculptures. The collection includes symbolic figures such as Irineos and Calypso, which mark the entrance, as well as various depictions of people integrated with plant forms. Some elements of the exhibit are designed to move with the ocean currents.
