Ayirekremu community leaders call for improved teacher housing

The NPP Coordinator and Chairman at Ayirekremu in the Krachi East Municipality, Ndakeba, has criticized a former government for rejecting requests to renovate teachers’ bungalows. He noted that inadequate housing is a significant barrier to attracting and retaining qualified teachers in the Oti Region, which negatively impacts student learning outcomes and staff stability.

During a recent visit, the Krachi East Municipal Assembly and the local Member of Parliament renovated a dilapidated bungalow in the community. The Municipal Chief Executive, Sarfo Nketia, stated that the Assembly is prioritizing education infrastructure, noting that since 2025, they have undertaken projects including classroom renovations, the construction of new bungalows, and the provision of furniture to improve the teaching environment.
