ÇAYKUR terminates producer contract following social media criticism

A formal document from ÇAYKUR’s Kendirli Tea Factory Directorate has surfaced, confirming the termination of a fresh tea purchase and sale agreement with producer İlyas Köse. The document, dated June 12, 2026, cites Köse’s social media posts regarding ÇAYKUR General Manager Yusuf Ziya Alim as the reason for the cancellation.

According to the official letter, the contract was terminated on June 11, 2026, under the authority of Article 7 of the agreement. The subject line of the document explicitly refers to “Social Media Posts.”

Köse had previously claimed that his “tea wallet” was canceled after he criticized the General Manager online, preventing him from selling his tea to ÇAYKUR and forcing him to sell to the private sector. He also alleged that he was offered a chance to reactivate his account if he apologized to the General Manager, a proposal he declined.
