Aylah Redshaw rescues five-year-old from drowning in dam
Eight-year-old Aylah Redshaw rescued a five-year-old boy, Mason, from drowning in a dam at Morisset on Saturday, August 22. The incident occurred while the children were out motorbiking with their families.
Mason, a non-swimmer wearing heavy motorbike gear, lost his grip on a rope swing and ended up in the middle of the dam. Despite wearing heavy gear herself, Aylah dove into the water to assist him. She utilized a water safety technique she learned at school called ‘think or sink,’ which instructs individuals to remain calm and float on their backs.
Aylah managed to force Mason onto his back and pushed him back to the shore. While she sustained minor scratches to her face during the rescue, the boy was saved from the water.
