Ayna, Spain: Woman killed by bull during festival

A 64-year-old woman died on Saturday morning during a traditional bull run (encierro) in Ayna, Albacete, Spain. The incident occurred during the town's patron saint festivities in honor of Nuestra Señora Santa María de lo Alto.

The victim, originally from Catalonia, was standing outside the protective barriers in the Las Cuevas area when she was attacked by a bull. Despite immediate assistance from emergency services and the deployment of a medical helicopter, she succumbed to her injuries while being evacuated to a helipad.

During the same event, a 60-year-old man was also injured, sustaining a wound to his arm from a different bull. Following the tragedy, the Mayor of Ayna, Juan Ángel Martínez, announced the immediate suspension of all scheduled festivities, which were originally set to continue until September 8.
