Ayodhya Ram Mandir implements new dress code for priests

The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has approved a new dress code for the priests (archaks) at the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. The change, implemented to align with Vaishnav traditions and Vedic sanctity, mandates that priests wear unstitched clothing.

Under the new regulations, priests will wear yellow (pitambar) silk dhotis and upper garments (uttariya). This replaces the previous attire, which included stitched garments like the 'chaubandi'. The decision follows suggestions from saints who noted that the previous dress code was contrary to local Vaishnav traditions.

The new uniform will apply to all main and assistant priests across all service shifts to ensure discipline and uniformity. For colder weather, woolen garments in the same yellow color will be provided.
