Ayodhya Ram Temple celebrates six-year land puja anniversary as VIP pass system ends

On August 5, 2024 the Ayodhya Ram Temple marked the sixth anniversary of the land‑puja ceremony that Prime Minister Narendra Modi performed on August 5, 2020. Hindu religious leaders described the day as a historic moment, with Mahant Dr. Deveshacharya saying, "Today is a historic day for all followers of Sanatan Dharma and devotees of Lord Ram." The anniversary was used to highlight the development that has taken place in Ayodhya since the ceremony.

On the same day the Sri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust announced the removal of the VIP and VVIP pass system for temple darshan. Saints such as Mahant Vijay Das and Ramadhal Trust chairman Kalakī Ram welcomed the decision, calling it a step toward equality and transparency. They urged that all devotees should be able to view the deity without special privileges, while accommodations for the disabled and local residents will continue.
