Ayodhya Ram Temple Donation Theft: Eight Arrested, ₹80 Lakh Seized
Eight suspects in the alleged theft of donations meant for the Ram temple in Ayodhya were presented before the Faizabad District and Sessions Court on June 26 under tight security. Following the hearing, the court ordered all eight to be placed in judicial custody until June 29.
Police reported that about ₹79.85 lakh was recovered from seven of the accused, while the eighth, identified as Subhash, allegedly orchestrated the scheme but did not yield any cash. The investigation uncovered involvement of government salary‑earners and five to six State Bank of India employees. Security forces, including the Special Operations Group, continue probing the network that facilitated the large‑scale embezzlement of temple funds.
