Ayodhya sees large crowds for Sawan Purnima celebrations
Large crowds of devotees gathered in Ayodhya to celebrate Sawan Purnima, performing ritual baths in the Saryu River. Following the holy dip, worshippers visited temples to offer water to Shiva lingams and pray for prosperity and health.
In addition to the religious significance of the Sawan month, the day coincided with the festival of Raksha Bandhan, celebrating the bond between brothers and sisters. Similar large gatherings were observed in Banka, Bihar, where devotees visited local temples to perform rituals for Lord Shiva.
