Ayodhya Truck Accident Kills Pilgrim During Kanwar Yatra

A truck struck a group of Kanwariyas near the Saryu River bridge in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, on August 3. The collision killed 28‑year‑old Akash Yadav, who had travelled from Gorakhpur to collect holy water, and left another pilgrim in critical condition. Doctors at Shri Ram Hospital declared Yadav dead upon arrival after a primary examination and ECG. Police reported that the injured pilgrim was taken to a medical college for further treatment. The incident occurred during the annual Kanwar Yatra, which draws thousands of devotees to the Saryu River each Shravan month.

Authorities in nearby Moradabad have intensified food‑safety inspections along the pilgrimage route, installing QR codes at stalls to address complaints.
