Ayolas fisherman killed by lightning strike

A 22-year-old fisherman, identified as Daniel Segovia Román, died after being struck by lightning in the port of Ayolas, Misiones Department, on Monday morning.

The incident occurred around 7:00 AM as the victim was securing his boat on the riverbank following a fishing trip. According to police reports, the strike happened during a period of approaching weather instability. Segovia Román was accompanied by his brother, Roberto Rodrigo Segovia Román, who had briefly stepped away to retrieve their vehicle.

Volunteer firefighters transported the young man to the Hospital Integrado de Ayolas, but he was pronounced dead upon arrival. Forensic doctor Edgar Caballero determined the cause of death to be cardiorespiratory arrest caused by the electrical discharge. The body has been released to the family following judicial orders.
