Ayotzinapa families demand interrogation of former governor Ángel Aguirre

Students from the Raúl Isidro Burgos Normal Rural School and the parents of the 43 disappeared Ayotzinapa students are intensifying demands for justice regarding the 2014 disappearances in Iguala, Guerrero.

During a march in Acapulco, students demanded that the federal government interrogate former governor Ángel Aguirre Rivero, who was detained on August 6. Protesters expressed concern that high-ranking officials could avoid accountability and called for Aguirre Rivero to be held responsible for the truth regarding the students' whereabouts.

Additionally, the parents of the victims have scheduled a meeting with President Claudia Sheinbaum at the National Palace. Their primary objective is to ensure that Aguirre Rivero, who is currently linked to the crime of forced disappearance, does not receive house arrest or legal benefits due to his age or health, similar to previous cases. The families are urging the Attorney General's Office to provide sufficient evidence to keep him in prison while the investigation continues.
