Ayra Starr makes history as first African artist to headline NFL halftime show in London

Nigerian Afrobeats singer Ayra Starr made history as the first African artist to headline a halftime show for an NFL international game. The performance took place on October 11 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London during a matchup between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Performing before a crowd of over 61,000 fans, Starr delivered a medley of hits including ‘Rush’, ‘Heaven Baby’, ‘Santa’, ‘Hot Body’, and ‘Dangerous’, as well as tracks from her recent studio album, ‘Starrgirl’. Starr noted that the platform allows artists to ‘speak for the culture’ and represent their people on a global stage.

Following this milestone, Starr has announced the ‘Starrgirl World Tour’ for 2027, which will include 20 shows across Europe and North America. The tour is scheduled to begin in Cologne, Germany, and conclude in San Francisco, USA, covering major cities such as London, Paris, Toronto, and Chicago.
