AySA water main break causes flooding and service disruptions in Temperley

A major water main break in Temperley has caused significant flooding and disrupted water services across parts of the southern Buenos Aires Conurbano. The rupture occurred at the intersection of Pasco and Caaguazú streets, involving an 800-millimeter diameter pipe that is part of the Quilmes Pumping Station infrastructure.

The flooding has inundated streets and commercial areas, making transit difficult for vehicles and pedestrians. The situation is exacerbated by clogged storm drains, preventing water from receding. As a result, several schools in the southern Buenos Aires province have suspended classes.

To facilitate repairs, AySA has had to halt water pumping to Almirante Brown and parts of Lomas de Zamora and Quilmes, leading to water shortages for residents in those areas. Repair crews are working in a five-meter-deep pit to replace the damaged section, a process complicated by the need to continuously drain accumulated water.
