Aysén authorities reinforce Hantavirus prevention for farmers

Authorities in the Aysén region of Chile are intensifying preventive measures against Hantavirus as spring approaches and agricultural activities reactivate. The Aysén Regional Presidential Delegation and the Regional Ministry of Agriculture are targeting farmers, ranchers, seasonal workers, and rural families to reduce exposure to wild rodents.

Prevention efforts focus on high-risk tasks, such as entering closed warehouses, silos, sheds, or greenhouses, and handling hay, forage, or animal feed. Regional agricultural official Yordy Cea emphasized the importance of incorporating safety protocols into daily field routines, including ventilating enclosed spaces before entry.
