Aysén Region develops insurance for Hudson Volcano risks
Authorities in the Aysén Region of Chile are working to establish a parametric insurance product to protect livestock producers from the potential economic impact of a Hudson Volcano eruption. A regional technical committee, led by the Seremi of Agriculture and including the National Director of Agroseguros, has been formed to develop a concrete proposal for financial coverage.
The initiative aims to anticipate the risks posed by the volcano, which remains a recurring concern for local authorities and the agricultural sector. The technical group includes various agricultural agencies and specialists, such as Sernageomin, to ensure the insurance model effectively addresses the specific threats of volcanic activity.
