Aysu Bankoğlu raises student housing crisis in Bartın to Parliament

Aysu Bankoğlu, a Member of Parliament for the Republican People's Party (CHP) representing Bartın, has submitted a written parliamentary inquiry to the Ministry of Youth and Sports regarding student housing shortages at Bartın University's Ulus Vocational School.

Bankoğlu highlighted that female students, in particular, are being deprived of public dormitory options. She criticized the university for directing students toward expensive alternatives such as private dormitories, hotels, and rental homes, which she argued are economically unsustainable for low-income families. She noted that while public dormitory costs are typically manageable, students are being forced toward options ranging from 15,000 to 25,000 TL.

The inquiry demands transparency regarding KYK (Credit and Dormitories Institution) application and registration statuses, an increase in public dormitory capacity, and a rejection of temporary or insecure solutions labeled as 'guest student' arrangements.
