Aytos Resident Arrested After Shooting Cat Near Child

In the Bulgarian town of Aytos, a man opened fire on a domestic cat that was just a few metres from its owner, Ivanka Gadelova, and her six‑year‑old son on a Wednesday evening at about 20:30. Gadelova told police that she heard a loud noise, saw the cat leap and then fall to the ground, badly wounded, while her son watched in distress. She immediately called emergency services, and police arrived promptly.

A pre‑trial investigation was opened and the suspect, identified by the victim as a neighbour returning from work, was detained for up to 24 hours. During questioning he admitted to killing the animal. The incident caused the child to panic and cry, and Gadelova described the emotional impact on her family. The neighbour denied any involvement and claimed he was not armed. The case remains under investigation by Bulgarian authorities.
