Ayumu Yokoyama scores first goal of season in Genk draw
In a Belgian Pro League match on August 22, Genk forward Ayumu Yokoyama scored his first goal of the season during a high-scoring 4-4 draw against Antwerp. Yokoyama, 23, found the net in the 57th minute after receiving a pass from Jesper Elesen, finishing calmly past goalkeeper Taishi Nozawa Brandon.
The match featured several Japanese players, including Genk's Junya Ito and Antwerp's Yuto Tsunashima. Despite Genk holding a 4-1 lead, they conceded three goals in the final ten minutes of the game to end in a draw.
Genk manager Thorsten Limpach expressed disappointment over the result, describing the loss of momentum in the second half as ‘unacceptable’ and noting the need for the team to learn from such difficult moments.
