Ayush Badoni named captain of Delhi Ranji Trophy team

Ayush Badoni has been appointed captain of the Delhi senior Ranji Trophy team for the upcoming domestic season. Yash Dhull will serve as deputy captain. The team is scheduled to begin its campaign against Bengal on October 11 at Kalyani.

Badoni, who holds a first-class batting average of 54, aims to instill greater batting discipline within the squad to help Delhi return to the knockout stages for the first time since the 2017-18 season. He emphasized the importance of converting starts into substantial scores and making bowlers earn his wicket.

Head coach Vijay Dahiya, returning for his third stint, has called for a turnaround in Delhi’s red-ball cricket. Dahiya stressed the need for players to take individual responsibility and build a settled core of players to achieve consistent team success. He highlighted senior fast bowler Navdeep Saini as a key figure expected to lead the bowling attack, which has recently faced challenges due to injuries.
