Ayushmann Khurrana visits Maharashtra to advocate for child protection
UNICEF India National Ambassador Ayushmann Khurrana conducted a rural field visit to Jalna, Maharashtra, to observe grassroots child protection efforts. During the visit, Khurrana engaged with the Kinship and Community Care programme, which aims to protect children affected by seasonal migration through family and community-based support.
Khurrana highlighted the risks associated with distress-driven seasonal migration, including increased vulnerability to child labour, child marriage, neglect, and disrupted education. He emphasized that while some children remain with extended family, many face emotional distress and limited supervision.
In addition to discussing migration, Khurrana addressed local infrastructure concerns after female students presented letters detailing how poor road conditions impact their safety and ability to attend school. He personally delivered these letters to the District Collector to advocate for improved rural development and safer routes for female students.
