Azabudai Hills to host Manga Nippon Mukashibanashi 50th anniversary exhibition
To celebrate its 50th anniversary, the iconic Japanese animation series ‘Manga Nippon Mukashibanashi’ will host a large-scale pop-up exhibition and store at the Azabudai Hills Gallery Space. The event is scheduled to run from September 18 to October 25, 2026.
The exhibition will feature a massive selection of merchandise, including character plushies and mascot charms. Notable attractions include a 1.8-meter photo spot based on the ‘Ningen tte Ii na’ ending and the first-ever public display of a 6-meter ‘Ryu to Ko’ sculpture used in the original stage production.
In a world-first for the franchise, the event will offer a multilingual digital experience via touch panels, allowing visitors to enjoy the stories in Japanese, English, French, Spanish, Chinese, and Korean. Additionally, a collaboration cafe will offer themed menus, including an ‘Omusubi Kororin’ inspired rice ball set supervised by ‘Sozai Azabudai Shun’.
