Azad Jammu and Kashmir PML-N government allocates cabinet portfolios

The newly formed Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) has officially allocated portfolios to its eight-member cabinet. Following the swearing-in ceremony on September 4, 2026, the Services and General Administration Department notified the distribution of key departments to the newly inducted ministers.

Key assignments include Dr. Mustafa Bashir Abbasi overseeing the Health Department, Raja Saqib Majeed managing Energy and Water Resources, and Abdul Rehman Arain handling Tourism, Industries, and Mineral Resources. Other allocations include Sardar Mir Akbar for Physical Planning and Housing, Col (retd) Waqar Ahmed Noor for Forests and Fisheries, Engineer Umair Naeem for School Education, Azhar Sadiq for Colleges and Higher Education, and Raja Riasat for Rehabilitation and Revenue.

Prime Minister Iftikhar Gilani has retained several major portfolios, including Finance, Law, Home Affairs, Agriculture, Information, and Local Government. Gilani will continue to hold these positions until the completion of polling for seven seats in the Poonch Division and a potential expansion of the cabinet.
