Azamgarh voter list irregularities lead to official disciplinary actions

Following an investigation into irregularities within the Azamgarh voter list, nine officials and employees are facing disciplinary action. The investigation confirmed that the name ‘Vikas Yadav’ was registered 13 times within a single assembly constituency, with one entry linked to Gorakhpur.

As a result of the findings, a computer assistant and five Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will be dismissed from their positions. Additionally, departmental proceedings have been ordered against the then Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) and two Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs).

The Congress party has criticized Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, alleging on social media that the disciplinary measures against lower-level staff are an attempt to protect his own position. The party claimed that the irregularities are part of a broader pattern of voter list manipulation.
