Azerbaijan advances AI integration in education and research

Azerbaijan is focusing on integrating artificial intelligence into its education and research sectors. Hasan Hasanli, Deputy Minister of Science and Education, stated during the II Azerbaijan International Investment Forum that the primary challenge is transitioning from a system that prepares students for existing jobs to one that develops individuals capable of creating new workplaces through AI.

To support this, the ministry is implementing AI-based assistant tools for students and teachers. Efforts are underway to integrate these tools into teaching, assessment, and management processes to foster creative thinking and the necessary skills for future entrepreneurship.

In the academic sphere, researchers Hikmet Kerimov and Rahid Alakbarli from the Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU) have published a study in the Q1-ranked journal ‘AI and Ethics’. Their research explores the conditions under which AI-generated recommendations transform into authoritative decisions that directly impact human and organizational activities. The study proposes a theoretical framework to evaluate the transition from information recommendation to real-world decision-making, emphasizing the importance of data reliability and human oversight.
