Turkey, Azerbaijan, and Georgia defense ministers meet in Shusha

Defense ministers from Turkey, Azerbaijan, and Georgia met in Shusha, Azerbaijan, for the 13th Trilateral Defense Ministers Meeting. The officials, including Turkish Defense Minister Yaşar Güler, Azerbaijani Defense Minister Zakir Hasanov, and Georgian Defense Minister Irakli Chikovani, discussed strengthening military cooperation, regional security, and joint operational capabilities in the South Caucasus.

Minister Güler emphasized that the security of the Caucasus is inseparable from the security of the three participating nations. He noted that existing energy, transport, and communication projects are vital for both economic development and regional stability, stating that protecting these projects is a shared responsibility. The ministers also highlighted the importance of joint military exercises and training programs to enhance interoperability.

Separately, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev addressed the growing international prestige of Azerbaijan, noting that the country serves as a neutral platform where high-ranking representatives from hostile nations meet during international events. Aliyev reiterated that Azerbaijan does not join any specific political camp.

In diplomatic developments, President Aliyev sent a congratulatory message to German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier for German Unity Day. Aliyev highlighted the strategic partnership established between Azerbaijan and Germany following a Joint Declaration signed in July, emphasizing cooperation in energy, trade, and transport.
