Azerbaijan advances renewable energy and climate monitoring
Azerbaijan is advancing its renewable energy and climate resilience infrastructure. The Qobustan Solar Power Plant is expected to be commissioned in the coming days, having already been connected to the power grid in test mode for verification. Additionally, work is underway to connect the Bilasuvar Solar Power Plant to the electricity grid by the end of the year.
In the offshore sector, measurement work is being conducted across 111.4 square kilometers in the Caspian Sea to assess wind energy potential. Wind measurements are also ongoing in the Kalbajar and Lachin districts, with preliminary data indicating significant potential.
To support agricultural resilience, the country plans to increase its meteorological station network from 151 to 181. This expansion aims to provide more accurate weather forecasts and data for AI-driven agricultural applications, such as crop health monitoring, pest risk assessment, and irrigation management.
