Azerbaijan advances resettlement in Aghdam amid demining efforts
Azerbaijan is continuing its resettlement efforts in liberated territories, with a recent group of 362 people, including 117 families, returning to the city of Aghdam. The resettled residents, many of whom had been living in temporary accommodations such as dormitories and sanatoriums, were presented with keys to new apartments.
At the 4th International Mine Action Conference, officials and analysts emphasized that humanitarian demining is a fundamental prerequisite for the successful reconstruction of these regions. Political analyst Azer Garayev stated that eliminating the mine threat is essential for restoring infrastructure, resuming economic activity, and ensuring the safe return of formerly internally displaced persons. Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan, noted that full restoration of cities and villages, including the safe operation of schools and hospitals, cannot be achieved until the land is cleared of explosive remnants of war.
