Azerbaijan and Central Asia aim to reshape Eurasian transport landscape
During the second day of the CAMCA 2026 Regional Forum in Baku, Hikmat Hajiyev, Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan, stated that Azerbaijan and Central Asian countries are working together to reshape the transport and communication landscape of Eurasia.
Hajiyev emphasized that the integration of Azerbaijan into the Central Asian space represents a new phase of cooperation, creating a new geoeconomic and geopolitical identity for the broader Caspian region. He noted that both Azerbaijan and Central Asian nations are landlocked and are actively working to establish new connections that link China to the West and vice versa.
The cooperation focuses on several key pillars, including political relations, economy, trade, business, and connectivity. Hajiyev also highlighted that Azerbaijan has elevated its strategic relations with major global powers, including the United States, China, and the European Union, over the last two years.
