Azerbaijan and Germany deepen strategic partnership with expanding oil and gas trade

Germany, the European Union’s largest economy, and Azerbaijan are strengthening their bilateral partnership based on mutual interest and equality. The relationship emphasizes Azerbaijan’s role as a key energy supplier, with Germany ranking among the top ten importers of Azerbaijani crude oil and newly receiving natural gas from Baku.

Trade data show that in 2025 the two countries exchanged about €1.7 billion in goods, while the first half of 2026 saw trade reach roughly $573 million. Azerbaijani exports to Germany remain dominated by oil, with 360,300 tonnes of crude valued at around $210.9 million, whereas imports from Germany consist mainly of machinery, industrial equipment, electronics and automobiles.
